100 days of Kanti Velugu celebrated at TS Secretariat

HYDERABAD: Ministers T. Harish Rao, Prashanth Reddy, T. Srinivas Goud, Jagadish Reddy and Gangula Kamalakar celebrated the completion of 100 days of Kanti Velugu, the state government’s eye health programme, at the Secretariat here on Saturday.

About 1.61 crore people have been screened as part of Kanti Velugu. Of them, 40.59 lakh were found to be visually impaired. Overall, 22.51 lakh people received free reading glasses, while 18.08 lakh were provided prescription glasses at no cost.

Greeting those associated with the programme, Harish Rao said its success owed much to the “unwavering commitment and hard work” of the DMHOs, their deputies, programme and medical officers, ophthalmologists, supervisors, nurses, ASHA and ANM workers, data entry operators and panchayati raj and municipal officials.”
