‘Smile’ cops rescue 581 children

The Smile teams were formed on June 18, 2018, to prevent trafficking of children for labour and other illegal activities.

Hyderabad: Over the past year, the Smile teams of Cyberabad commissionerate have rescued 581 children including 213 girls, who were mostly pushed into begging and child labour.

The Smile teams were formed on June 18, 2018, to prevent trafficking of children for labour and other illegal activities. Of the children rescued, 543 were sent to rescue homes while the rest were handed over to their parents.

Police said 200 children were rescued from begging, 71 from rag-picking and 299 from labour. Five missing children were traced and a child marriage was stopped in the last one year.
