Hyderabad: A couple from Sultan Shahi was killed when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding car at Mandamallamma under Meerpet police station early on Monday. The police arrested the car driver, Mohan Satish Kumar, 28, a resident of Rakshapuram near Bahadurpura.
The couple is survived by a son and a daughter aged 12 and eight years respectively.
The victims were identified as Karnakoti Ganesh Kumar, an electrician, and K. Jyothi, an attender at a school, residents of Sultan Shahi. On Sunday evening, the couple went to attend a marriage at Meerpet and was returning home when the accident occurred.
According to Meerpet police, the car driven by Kumar (AP05 EN 2255) rammed into the two-wheeler when Ganesh was taking a U-turn in front of Vanga Anantha Reddy function hall. Jyothi who was thrown from the two-wheeler and died on the spot. Ganesh was taken to a private hospital where he succumbed at about 8.40 am on Monday while undergoing treatment. Kumar was held under Section 304A.
