Lower division clerk aspirants cram public transport in Thiruvananthapuram
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The parking lots of KSRTC bus stands and railway stations were full with city youngsters used public transport to head to other districts for lower division clerk (LDC) test on Saturday. Around 2.29 lakh aspirants from the district virtually clogged trains and buses to go to around 978 centres located across five southern districts. “I sat on a gap between washbasin and the floor of the train during my return from Thiruvalla where my centre was located. Early morning the queue for tickets extended from counter to the ATM kiosks several metres away,” said Sreejith S.
His brother Sreenu got an exam centre in Alleppey and had kept the bike on the roadside as he couldn’t find parking space at Thampanoor. “Though exam was easy, seeing the crowd I believe there is no chance for me. The cut off would be way higher. Of the 100 questions, I couldn’t answer last three-four math questions,” said Mr Sreenu.
KSRTC ran additional buses to main exam centres in Kollam and Kottayam as each district had around 200 centres. Chiefs of KSRTC’s city depots said the buses to fringe areas like Kattakada and Balaramapuram remained unusually packed beyond 8.30pm though collection figures were yet to be computed.
