Millet café to come up at collectorate

KURNOOL: District collector G. Srijana said that a millet cafe will be set up within the collectorate premises, offering millet-based breakfast, lunch, and snacks to the public. She stated that this project aims to promote millet as a healthy alternative.

Srijana, along with joint collector N. Maurya and municipal commissioner A. Bhargav Teja, attended a millet exhibition on Thursday at the collectorate's dwcra bazaar main entrance. Srijana emphasised the relevance of millets in our lifestyle, as they bring about dietary modifications to offset the lack of physical activity compared to past generations.

She observed that diabetes and hypertension are affecting people at a younger age as a result of these changes. The collector further emphasised the need for supporting and encouraging millet production and farmers cultivating millets not just in Kurnool but also in other areas, as well as marketing and development facilities. This will help the area's overall growth and promote the benefits of millet eating, she believes.
