With help from KTR, Kargil war hero's family gets death certificate

The case raised the issue of lack of maintenance of receipt books at burial grounds and graveyards under the GHMC area

HYDERABAD: Municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao has personally intervened to ensure justice to a war hero and streamline the maintenance of records at graveyards.

Following this, Kargil war hero and Sena Medal winner Col Joyanta Dasgupta got his father's death certificate, which was delayed for several days due to some snags in the system.

The minister came to know through a Twitter post that the son of 84-year-old Satya Brotha Dasgupta, a veteran of the Indian Army, could not obtain his father’s death certificate.

The case raised the issue of lack of maintenance of receipt books at burial grounds and graveyards under the GHMC area. As a result, Col Dasgupta’s family was denied a timely issuing of death certificate.

In a tweet on Monday, the minister advised principal secretary to municipal administration Arvind Kumar to review and streamline the situation so that “no one in future will have to go through such an ordeal."

Arvind Kumar discussed the matter with GHMC officials, including the commissioner, after which necessary orders were issued to the departments concerned.

The zonal and divisional commissioners have been advised to henceforth ensure the availability of receipt books at burial grounds/graveyards under their jurisdiction.
