Kerala's biggest ferry boat launched

The civic body will also introduce two modern RO-RO jhankar vessels in the route once construction of the terminals at both ends is completed.

Kochi: The state’s biggest passenger boat that can accommodate 150 passengers was launched here on Monday with the Kochi Corporation planning to start ferry operation using it in the Vypeen-Fort Kochi route in another 10 days.
Mayor Soumini Jain led the formal launching ceremony of the twin-engine boat built by the Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore.

“The stability test will be conducted on Wednesday followed by sea trial. After that the registration process will commence. We aim to complete the entire process and start the ferry service in another 10 days,” said Shiny Mathew, Town Planning Committee Chairperson. The civic body will also introduce two modern RO-RO jhankar vessels in the route once construction of the terminals at both ends is completed.
