However, he didn't visit any of the areas where many houses and vehicles had been damaged during the tension.

MALAPPURAM: The police in the state has been directed to take stern action against anyone who disturbs the peaceful environment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday. He was speaking at a public meeting organised by the CPM in Tanur where incidents of violence took place between Muslim League and CPM workers few days ago. The reception to the Chief Minister was held at Ossan Beach, few kilometers away from the violence hit Chappapadi, Ottumpuram and Korman Beach areas of Tanur. However, he didn’t visit any of the areas where many houses and vehicles had been damaged during the tension.

“The irregularity in the ration distribution in the state is due to the union government’s reluctance towards the state’s demand. The Centre has made huge cut in the supply for the state and it should be reinstated to meet the demand in time,” he said. The chief minister inaugurated the memorial, built in memory of freedom fighter Vakkom Khader at Ossan beach by Muslim Educational Society (MES). He also attended two other programmes in Valancheri and Tirur in the district earlier on the day.
