Kottayam: The CPM is understood to have zeroed in on Students Federation of India state president Jaik C. Thomas as its candidate for the Puthupally assembly constituency to take on Chief Minister Oomen Chandy.
The decision was taken reportedly by the CPM Kottayam district secretariat on Thursday and the proposal has been send to the state committee. CPM Kottayam district secretary V.N. Vasavan, however, said that the final decision will be known by Saturday.
The CPI (M) district secretariat also decided to field Ettumanur MLA K. Suresh Kurup once again in the constituency. District committee member Reji Sacharia will be the party candidate against Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in the Kottayam constituency.
