Thiruvananthapuram: The revenue department is yet to issue notices to the Kerala Law Academy Law College on the takeover of the excess land under its procession. It has also not issued notices to the college to vacate the hotel and cooperative bank on the college premises. Revenue principal secretary P.H. Kurian in his report had recommended the takeover of the six acres of 11.49 acres of land on the college premises. The law department has not given a legal opinion on queries of the revenue department on these issues as it was busy with legislative business due to the Assembly session which is set to begin on Feb. 23.
The academy while replying to the notice sent by the district administration seeking the refund of the money spent by it for demolishing the wall constructed by the academy on the alleged encroached government land said that it was constructed by the Kerala Water Authority. Hence, the money for demolishing the wall should be levied from the water authority, the academy said in the reply. Though, the management had demolished the main gate last week, it did not remove the arch and two pillars of the main gate and the wall even after the time given by the revenue department.
