Kochi: EOffice project to be extended to government offices

The project titled 'One file in one click' aims to dispose of the applications as soon as the file is received and resolve complaints.

KOCHI: The district administration’s ambitious e-office project will be extended to the lower level offices from October which is expected to make a revolution in the file management system. From receiving applications to its processing and delivering the service, everything will be transparent and easily accessible to all. The project titled ‘One file in one click’ aims at resolving the complaints and dispose of the applications as soon as the file is received. District collector Muhammad Y Safirulla, former IT Mission director, who successfully implemented the project at Government Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram has initiated it in the district. The project was rolled out at the collectorate in June 2016.

“When the project is introduced at the Village level from October, all applications and complaints submitted at the Village office can be settled immediately. There will be no delay even if the file needs to be referred to tehsildar or district collector as they can access the files online. This will considerably reduce the time to dismiss a file,” said Mr. Safirulla. Strict instruction has been given to Revenue Department officials that no file should be unnecessarily referred to higher authorities. Village offices should not cause difficulties to the public.

To implement the project, 74 new computers, two high-speed scanners, and network printers were procured and the files are being scanned and converting to e- files. “E office project can be implemented in 10 sections including magisterial, administration, revenue recovery, finance, inspection by the year end,” added the district collector. Apart from the Collectorate, the facility has been introduced at the Employment Regional Deputy Directorate. The project is also being implemented at RDO office, Muvattupuzha and Fort Kochi sub collectorate. The E- Office project was approved by the State Government in 2013 to automate file flow in all the 42 government departments in Secretariat.
