Director Vinayan to head Horticorp

The meeting urged the state government to take all steps to restore the ration quota entitled to the people of the state.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI on Friday decided to appoint cine director Vinayan as chairman of Horticorp besides heads of 15 other boards and corporations. The decision was taken by CPI state executive meeting at the M . .Smarakam here. The chairman of other boards and corporations are; Kerala Land Development Corporation: T Purushotaman, Coconut Development Corporation: C.N. Chandran, Agricultural Workers Welfare Board: P K Krishnan, Kerala State Housing Board: P Prasad, Dairy Welfare Fund Board: N Rajan, Kerala Poultry Development Corporation: J Chathunny, Kerafed: J Venugopalan Nair, State Farming Corporation - K K Ashraf, Oil Palm India -Vijayan Kunniserry, Plantation Corporation: J Udayabhanu, Kerala Agro Machinery Corporation: P Balachandran, Warehousing Corportion: Vazhoor Soman, Kerala Agro Processing Company: Babu Paul, Meat Products of India: T R Ramesh Kumar, Kerala Feeds: K.S. Indushekharan Nair and SIDCO: Niaz Pulickkal.

The meeting urged the state government to take all steps to restore the ration quota entitled to the people of the state. The previous government had failed ot intervene effectively in the ration issue following which the state is now heading for a crisis. The LDF government is giving top priority to resolve the ration issue. The party urged the opposition to play a constructive role in the interest of the people of the state .

Meanwhile, CPM state secretariat which met here discussed the issues confronting the state. It directed the district committees to mobilise maximum people for the human chain from Kasargod to Parassala on December 29. The party said the problems of a cross section of society especially the daily wages cashew, coir, agricultural workers, migrant workers, self help groups need to be highlighted since they are the facing worst times. The party also called upon the committees from top to the local level to mobilise squads for door to door campaign on December 27 and 28.
