Close Shave For Hyderabad Airport Passenger
A portion of the roof panelling fell down near the departures lounge at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) this afternoon leading to some anxious moments among the passengers, as they had a narrow escape en route their designated gates.
Responding to the incident, GMR Hyderabad International Airport issued a statement stating, “We acknowledge that the incident occurred within our terminal. It was identified during routine cleaning and maintenance that a panel joint had become loose. We are currently inspecting all the panels and taking measures to prevent any recurrence of such incidents in the future.”
The panel fell even as the travellers were passing through the way after completing security checks and proceeding to their boarding gates.
One of the passengers, Shashi Dharan, who had a close shave with the fallen panel, took to X, and shared: “@RGIAHyd thanks god nothing hapoend to me at Hyderabad airport but no one came from GMR it’s almost 10 mnts am waiting after informing them.”
Shashi, the managing director of Bharat Exhibitions based in Delhi, said the fallen object was sharp and potentially dangerous. “My primary concern is that it took nearly 15 minutes for the Quick Response Team (QRT) to arrive at the scene. I lodged a complaint with them regarding the incident, and they assured me that they would investigate,” he added.
He was returning to the capital in a Vistara flight.
