Total revamp of Kerala IT Infrastructure firm in the offing

A company secretary at the organisation was already terminated and fresh appointment made.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is planning a total revamp of Kerala State IT Infrastructure Limited (KSITIL) in the wake of allegations over recruitment as well as the infighting among the handful of employees in the organisation. Steps were already on to engage experienced teams of officials from Technopark and Infopark for the technical and managerial activities related to infrastructure development, while a fresh team will be engaged for the Rs 1,000 crore Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON) project, the flagship project of the state government.

According to sources, M.G. Rajamanickam, who recently took over as the managing director had already sought government nod for a total revamp of the existing staff. The allegations regarding retaining an existing finance executive by overlooking the age restriction was also referred to the government, it is learnt. IT secretary M. Sivasankar said that certain issues, including infighting, in the organisation came to the government’s notice and corrective actions were being taken.

All of them were recruited on contract basis over the last many years. Many employees were also allegedly having strong political backings. A recent move to re-appoint a finance executive of the organisation, even after the interview board pointed out that she did not meet the age criteria mentioned in the placement notification, had triggered a controversy. The government also received several complaints in this regard.
