CPI claims on minister Thomas Chandy quitting empty: NCP

The decision was not taken under pressure from any coalition partner including CPI.

Thiruvananthapuram: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state secretary T.P. Peethambaran master said here on Thursday that the CPI was making needless claims about its role in Thomas Chandy’s resignation. He said the NCP had taken principled decision on the issue to avoid any crisis in LDF government and to keep its image intact. The decision was not taken under pressure from any coalition partner including CPI.

The NCP leader said the matter was discussed with the Chief Minister and later the state leadership had discussion with the national leader and this finally led to the resignation. Peethambaran Master said his party was not in a hurry to get back to Cabinet and would wait for judicial commission verdict on former minister A.K. Saseendran’s honey trap case and outcome of Chandy’s petition in the court.
