RPF cop saves man slipping under train

HYDERABAD: Assistant sub-inspector R. Srinivas of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday night rescued a passenger, Prashanth Dhate of Maharashtra, who accidentally slipped while attempting to board the Hazrat Nizamuddin-bound Dakshin Express that was in motion, at the Secunderabad station.

So far this year, RPF said, its personnel had rescued 43 passengers against 63 last year.

Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, Secunderabad, applauded Srinivas for his quick reaction. “We appeal to the passengers to desist from boarding or deboarding running trains,” she said.

A fortnight ago escort staff Viswajeeth Kumar rescued a woman who fell from a moving train. He was also injured in this incident.
