ISB tops chart in country’s business schools

HYDERABAD: The Indian School of Business (ISB) is ranked the top institute in the country and 44th worldwide in a list of the best executive MBA programmes as rated by a global media firm.

ISB was ranked much higher in a number of criteria this year compared to last year, the school said. It has performed particularly well globally in a number of key metrics, including research rank (52), best career progression (28), pay rank (20), international course experience rank (16), and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) (9).

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bengaluru, was the only other institution from India to make the list; it was ranked 86th. The list was headed by the Kellogg/HKUST Business School in Hong Kong, and the next four schools were Tsinghua University-Insead in China, Singapore, France, the United Arab Emirates, and HEC Paris in France and Qatar.

Alumni from the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Senior Executives (PGPMAX) of 2019 were surveyed for the rankings, ISB said. “It is gratifying to witness how ISB has excelled in various ranking parameters,” Prof Ramabhadran Thirumalai, deputy dean, academic programmes, ISB said.

Poornima Bushpala, an alumna of the PGPMAX Class of 2019, said, “The student journey was beyond classroom and academics. The opportunity to participate in global competitions, and networking with rich peer and alumni groups across the world significantly added to my success. Overall, the experience has made me a more self-assured and tenacious person. Most importantly, the experience gave me the confidence to face problems.”

The list is a comprehensive ranking of executive MBA courses around the world. ISB's PGPMAX is a 15-month global executive MBA programme for senior-level employees with at least 10 years of professional experience.
