Central officer summoned by High Court in contempt case

Hyderabad: A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjay Bhuyan and Justice Bhasker Reddy summoned P.K. Tripathi, secretary, ministry of personnel, public grievance and pensions, in a contempt case.

The bench was dealing with a complaint lodged by G.S.R. Kumar and other IAS officers complaining that the Centre was guilty of violating the orders of the High Court which had confirmed the Central Adminsitrative Tribunal orders.

The tribunal had dealt with the question on the action of the Union of India in assigning specific years of allotment based on the promotion of officers from the state civil service. The tribunal had required the authorities to reconsider the cases for promotion on the re-determined strength as on 2002.

Though the order was upheld by the High Court and a special leave petition was dismissed, the officer had failed to comply with the order. The bench directed secretary P.K. Tripathi to be present in the court on October 21.
