Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that a special programme called ‘Ek Shaam Charminar ke Naam’ will be held twice a month. He made the announcement after a meeting with religious heads at Salarjung Museum.
“The event will be held on Sundays from 7 pm to 10 pm. The ‘Sunday Funday’ programme on Tank Bund has been running successfully for eight weeks. Taking it as an inspiration, this special event at Charminar will be launched,” Ashwini Kumar said.
“We are organising events to attract tourists near the place and are setting up special parking places for visitors arriving at Charminar,” the police commissioner said.
“We held a review meeting with various departments of the government and with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi to make the programme a success. We have taken all the necessary security measures at Charminar on behalf of the police,” said the official.
Traffic guidelines
Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar on Saturday issued traffic guidelines to facilitate the ‘Ek Shaam Charminar ke Naam’ programme on Sundays from 3 pm to 10 pm.
Traffic from Afzalgunj and Madina will be diverted at Gulzar Houz towards Metti Ka Sher and Kalikaman, Etebar Chowk. Traffic from Falaknuma, and Himmatpura, will be diverted at Panchmahal,Charminar towards Shah Function Hall and Moghalpura Fire Station road and Bibi Bazaar.
Traffic from Bibi Bazaar, Moghalpura Water Tank and Hafeez Danka Masque will be diverted at Sardarmahal towards Kotla Alijah, Etebar Chowk. Traffic from Moosabowli, Murghi Chowk and Ghansi Bazaar will be diverted at Lad Bazaar, Mothi Galli towards Khilwat road.
Parking for visitors from Afzalgunj, Nayapul and Madina side: GHMC office Sardar Mahal, Mufeed-ul-Anam Boys High School at Kotla Alijah, SYJ Complex near Madina, AU Hospital and at Charminar bus terminal in gate.
Parking for visitors from Murgi Chowk and Shahalibanda side: Pension Office at Motigally, Urdu Maskan auditorium, Khilwat Ground, AU Hospital and at the Charminar bus terminal in gate.
Parking for visitors from Madina, Puranapul and Gosha Mahal side: Quli Qutub Shah Stadium, Government City College and at MJ Bridge.
