Watery grave for eight in Telangana
Hyderabad: Two boys from a family and another boy drowned in an agricultural well in Mahbubnagar district on Sunday.
The boys are Saikumar, his brother Shiva and their cousin Shiva Kumar.
Police said R. Saikumar, 10, and R. Shiva, 8, were the sons of Rangaiah and Chennamma, a farmer couple of Kothapeta village in Hanwada mandal. As Sunday was a holiday they accompanied their parents to the farm. M. Shiva Kumar, 11, their cousin and the only son of Raju and Anjamma, also came with them.
While their parents were busy they went to have water and when they saw the well they entered it to play.“They did not know swimming or the depth of the well. Due to the recent rains the water level had risen and they drowned,” police said.
Others working in the fields heard the kids shouting.
Later, their bodies were recovered from the well and handed over to their families after post-mortem.
Two students drowned in a quarry pit in Jaga-thgirigutta on Sunday. Police said the victims were Md Aslam, 17, a degree student and Md Rahim, 21, a BTech student, from Gajulara-maram.
Meanwhile, in Khammam three children drowned in the Pangidi Cheruvu on Sunday. Police said the victims are Nagul Meera, 14, and Najeer, 12, and Abdul Rehman, 6.
The kids had gone to the tank with their relative Anwar Pasha.
