Ten students from AP to attend UN meet on education

Visakhapatnam/Kurnool: Ten students from Andhra Pradesh would participate in the UN seminar in New York on the education systems on September 18 and 19.

Among these is Samala Manaswini, a 9th-grade student from Gummalakshmi Puram Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya. District collector Nishant Kumar acknowledged her selection for this event and felicitated her in his chamber on Wednesday.

The collector said these students were chosen based on their exemplary performance in Class 10. Manaswini's selection, however, was different. She is studying in Class IX.

A special recommendation from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy helped in her selection. It is noted that during the Kurupam Amma Vodi programme, organised as part of the Nadu-Nedu initiative, Gummalakshmipuram KGBV students delivered speeches on the transformative impact of the state government programme. Manaswini's participation caught the attention of the CM.

Further, the opportunity to attend the UN meet has been extended to two students from ordinary backgrounds in Kurnool and Nandyal. These students, M. Shiva Lingamma and C. Rajeswari, have excellent academic records.

Shiva Lingamma, a resident of Podalakunta Madiri village in Kowthalam mandal, Kurnool district, is daughter of M Somanath, an agricultural worker. She had an impressive score of 541 in her Class 10 exams at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Adoni town. She won a coveted seat at AP Residential Junior College at Kambalapadu and aspires to become a doctor.

C. Rajeswari is daughter of a lorry driver and resides in Bommalasatram Colony in Nandyal town. She secured 583 marks in her Class X exams at the AP Government Model School in Nandyal. Her academic proficiency earned her the Jagananna Animutyalu Puraskaram, awarded to top-performing students in the district.

Rajeswari drew attention on her during the Independence Day celebrations, where deputy chief minister Amzath Basha presented her with a certificate.

The UN delegation from AP also includes Pasupuleti Gayatri from Pedapadu and Anjana Sai from D-Narasapuram in Eluru; V. Yogeswar from Tirupati, D. Jyotsna from Kankipadu in Krishna, M. Chandralekha from Nellipaka in ASR district, Shaik Ammajan from Vempalli in YSR district and Allam Rishitha from Vizianagaram.
