KOCHI: The City Corporation has invited tenders for various projects proposed under the Rs 200 crore Union government-funded AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme (phase I). The projects are in water supply, sewerage, drainage, urban transport and green space and parks development. While tenders have been invited for projects worth Rs 5.39 crore, the civic body has also approved the list of projects to be carried out using the remaining Rs 70.52 crore.
The projects listed out include laying of a new water pipeline along Thevara – Konthuruthy, and Mattancherry – Koovapadam stretches at a cost of Rs 6.98 cr, new pump house construction at Karuvelipady, setting up 5 MLD sewerage plant at the old plant site at Elamkulam and upgrading the existing facility at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore, construction of three decentralised plants in 15,16 and 17 divisions,restoration of Thevara – Perandoor Canal and a few other drains in the city spending Rs 22.56 crore. Footpath renovation along Atlantis junction to Thevara at MG Road and Subhash Chandra Bose Road will also be carried out under the AMRUT scheme.
The steering committee meeting chaired by the Mayor has approved the project proposals and the detailed project reports will be drafted soon. In the first phase of the scheme, the civic body will be implementing projects to the tune of Rs 200 crore. Of the Rs 200 crore, the Centre will give Rs 100 crore while the State government and City Corporation will raise the remaining matching fund.
