Man returns Haj money to R Balakrishna Pillai

Mr. Pillai had expressed resentment over the call for Namaz from mosques which disturbed his sleep.

Kollam: Subair Musliar from Pallikkal, who had performed Haj pilgrimage by accepting money from R. Balakrishna Pillai, returned the amount after Mr Pillai referred to Musliar during the recent hate-speech controversy. Subair Musliar of Fathima Manzil returned the money after Balakrishna Pillai mentioned his name citing that he had sent a member from the Muslim community to the pilgrimage, in an apparent comment to justify his attitude towards the community.

Mr. Pillai had expressed resentment over the call for Namaz from mosques which disturbed his sleep. He also said if ten Muslims or Christians live together in a place, they will construct a mosque or a church there, which will affect the Hindu legacy. “It was fifteen years back that Mr. Pillai informed his willingness to help me through a mediator. I accepted the money out of my strong desire to do the pilgrimage. The mention by Mr. Pillai in a recent press meeting that he had sent me for Haj after giving me money was hurting,” Mr. Subair said.

He sent a demand draft of Rs 65,000 to Balakrishna Pillai the other day. He has also thanked Mr. Pillai for the help he had offered years back and has asked him not to see it as an act of ingratitude. Mr. Pillai who later tendered unconditional apology for his hate-speech said that in community meetings, there would be matters that are not discussed outside. “I also spoke inside the four walls of the NSS karayogam and not in public. There is a conspiracy behind raising a controversy over my speech there,” Mr. Pillai had said.
