Kozhikode: Call for Crime Branch probe into student death
Kozhikode: The Hindu Aikya Vedi on Tuesday demanded the police to solve the mystery of the death of Baby Memorial Hospital College of Nursing student P.K. Sreelakshmi (19). They also wanted the cops to investigate the role of the hospital management behind the death of the BSc nursing second-year student from Koomulli, Kozhikode, on July 15.
BJP state general secretary K. Surendran, who inaugurated a protest march by Aikya Vedi, to the city police commissioner’s office, said that the investigation should be handed over to crime branch for a free probe. “There is clear proof that the inquiry was sabotaged. The same police that said there was a mystery behind the death is now dumb on the issue, after one month,” said Mr Surendran.
The family of Ms Sreelakshmi had alleged foul play saying the investigation was not in the proper direction. Her elder sister Aishwarya P.K. had alleged that the hospital was misleading the police about incidents that took place a year ago and was not probing the recent issues that eventually led to the girl’s death. Aishwarya also attended the protest march on Tuesday, along with her relatives.
