Foot over-bridge, escalator mooted at East Fort
Thiruvananthapuram: One of the main projects that the Corporation will be pushing for, after the recently-held development seminar is a with escalator at East Fort. The traffic congestion, jaywalking and accidents at this place has been a cause of worry among the public, for some time. The over-bridge was suggested as a solution earlier by the Town Planning Committee. Corporation officials say that the funds of AMRUT project can be used for this.
In order to improve the Animal Birth Control project, the infrastructure at the veterinary hospital, Pettah, is about to be revamped. This will help the rehabilitation of the dogs after the birth control surgery. The Corporation plans to introduce a project to support small Kudumbashree units, which would help the plastic campaign. The units which would have around 5 members, will be trained to make paper and cloth carry bags. These would serve as alternatives for plastic carry bags.
The modernisation of slaughterhouse at Kunnukuzhy is another project which will be taken up this year. Three gas crematoriums will be set up at Santhikavadam. In addition, there will be two more crematoriums at Kanjirampara and Kazhakkoottam. The LED project will be taken forward. According to officials, now all that remains is signing an MoU with SIDCO.
