KAKINADA: Physical education teacher (PET) K. Venkateswara Rao of Pulavarthi Lakshmaiah Zilla Parishad High School at Akiveedu village in West Godavari district has been suspended on the charge of misbehaving with girl students in the school.
West Godavari district education officer (DEO) R.V. Ramana said the school’s headmaster has been directed to lodge a complaint with the area police station against the PET under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The DEO said after some of the girl students complained against the PET, a committee comprising the MRO, ICDS project officer, headmaster and RDO conducted a preliminary probe into the issue.
The PET has been suspended based on the statements of the victims.
