Hyderabad: Zoo celebrates chimp’s birthday
Hyderabad: The Nehru Zoological Park celebrated the 33rd birthday of its pampered chimpanzee Susy. She continues to enjoy the lavish lifestyle she was used to since the time she was presented by Mr Subrata Roy of the Sahara Group in 2011.
On her birthday, Susy’s enclosure was decorated with fruits and vegetables and she was given honey-soaked bread slices. An event was organised with young visitors, veterinary staff and animal keepers and a cake was cut in her enclosure.
Susy starts her day by brushing with a new brush and Pepsodent, and bathes only with Pears soap. She never misses her coconut oil massage. Susy prefers Nescafe and Cadbury.
A zoo official said, “Susy is perfectly sound and healthy and has a strict diet plan which includes fruits, corn flakes, bread with honey, nuts for her lunch. Her love for Cadbury chocolates has never reduced.”
Also on Tuesday, the zoo celebrated World Snakes Day with an awareness programme on the reptiles. Reptile expert Swetha explained the role of reptiles in biodiversity. “Only 375 of the 3,000 known species of snakes are venomous,” she said.
