Police found that on June 7, Poornima went to the Secunderabad railway station from her home and took a train to Mumbai.

HYDERABAD: More than a month after she went missing, SSC student Poornima Sai was found in a child care home in Mumbai, putting an end to the anxiety of her parents and a massive search operation by the Cyberabad Police. Police found that on June 7, Poornima went to the Secunderabad railway station from her home and took a train to Mumbai. She got down at the Chatrapati Shivaji terminus the next day and was roaming around the station when a passerby noticed her and handed over her to the Balika Sadar Gruha, an NGO in Dadar.

At the Home, she identified herself as Anitasree and said she was an orphan. The NGO duly informed the Boiwada police station. The Cyberabad police has communicated to its Mumbai counterparts, the details of Poornima. During investigations, a Bhoiwada police officer identified Poornima and questioned her. At that time, she said she belonged to the Tukaramgate area in Secunderabad and that her parents had died a couple of years ago.

This rang a bell, and the Bhoiwada police contacted the Tukaramgate inspector and sent him the girl's photograph. The inspector identified her and alerted the Bachupally police. Mumbai Central Zone additional commissioner S. Jayakumar said Poo-rnima had been staying at the Home for more than a month after she was found at the railway station. “She has been handed over to officials of the social welfare department and her parents have also been informed. As of now, she has not revealed any more details,” he said. ACP Kukatpally N. Bhujanga Rao said that a police team and her parents would pick her up and return home by Monday evening.
