Anbumani Ramadoss to raise Palar issue in Parliament

He told reporters here that Andhra Pradesh government had built 22 checkdams across the Palar within a distance of 32 kilometre.

Chennai: PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday said he would raise in Parliament, the issue of Andhra Pradesh increasing the height of Pullur checkdam across Palar.

He told reporters here that Andhra Pradesh government had built 22 checkdams across the Palar within a distance of 32 kilometre. He complained that the AIADMK government is complacent on the issue of Pullur checkdam, despite having 50 MPs in Parliament.

The state government should put pressure on the Centre, besides approaching the Supreme Court on the issue, he said after hoisting the party flag at PMK office to mark the 28th founding day of the party.

Anbumani said the PMK was launched for the welfare of Tamil Nadu and it had been raising its voice for Sri Lankan Tamils from 1992. The PMK had raised the Lankan Tamils issue in UN about 100 times. He promised that he would all the leaders on the Palar issue during the oncoming Parliament session.

The PMK leader said he would meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demand necessary enquiry into the death of AIMMS student Saravanan.
Recalling the achievements of the PMK, he said the party's protests led to the MBC reservation in Tamil Nadu and it also raised its voice for 27 per cent reservation OBC reservation in the Centre. PMK fought for cancellation of entrance examination for professional courses and the formation of Salem Railway Division.

The PMK's efforts brought autonomy to JIPMER and Siddha Research Centre at Tambaram, he said. Anbumani also denied the land grabbing charges against his sister and vowed to face it legally.
