Water levels in reservoirs dip in AP

Vijayawada: Water levels in several major and medium reservoirs showed a dip in the summer. The current water storage level was at 428.63tmc-ft (43.58 per cent) against last year’s storage of 462.03tmc-ft (46.98 per cent) and against the gross capacity of full reservoir level at 983.4 tmc-ft on Tuesday.

Srisailam has a current storage of 33.91tmc- ft (15.71 per cent) against the gross capacity of 215.81tmc-ft, with the current reservoir level being at 809.3 feet.

Nagarjuna Sagar has a current storage of 152.21tmc-ft (48.78 per cent) against gross capacity at 312.05tmc-ft, with the current reservoir level being at 521.6 feet.

Pulichintala has 34.68tmc ft (34.68 per cent) against 45.77tmc-ft, with the water level put at 167.32 feet.

The Prakasam barrage has 3.07tmc-ft of water (100 per cent) at full capacity with the water level recorded at 57.05feet. The Sir Arthur Cotton barrage across Godavari river has 2.93tmc-ft of water (100 per cent) with full
storage capacity and the water level recorded at 10.25 feet.

As for medium reservoirs, Musurimill has its current water storage recorded at 0.21tmc-ft (13.12 per cent) against a full capacity of 1.6tmc-ft, with the water level put at 361.21 feet.

The Tammileru reservoir has 0.29tmc-ft (26.24 per cent) against a full storage capacity of 1.1tmc-ft with the water level at 338.3 feet.

The Yeleru reservoir has 9.93tmc-ft of water (41.19 per cent) against a full capacity at 24.11tmc-ft with the water level put at 251.74 feet.

The Gundlakamma reservoir has 1.59 tmc-ft (41.11 per cent) against a full storage of 3.86tmc-ft with the water shortage level at 70.94 feet.

The Pampa reservoir has 0.29tmc-ft of water (68.56 per cent) against a full storage capacity of 0.42tmc-ft with the water level recorded at 98.9 feet.

The Velugodu balancing reservoir has 1.94tmc-ft of water (11.46 per cent) against full capacity of 16.95 tmc-ft with the water level at 824.7 feet.

The Upper Pennar has 0.75tmc-ft (41.22 per cent) against a full capacity of 1.81tmc-ft with the water storage level recorded at 1.747.7 feet.
The Chagallu balancing reservoir has 0.61tmc ft (33.91 per cent) against a full capacity of 1.8tmc-ft with water storage level of 863.58 feet.

Water resources engineer-in-chief Narayana Reddy said, “Though the water level dips in some projects, we are expecting rainfall in the first week of June. Hence, they would get filled up. As of now, we don’t need any water for cultivation of crops as the farmers have already harvested their crops and there is no shortage of drinking water in the state as of now.”
