UDF incites officials to malign Modi: Kummanam Rajasekharan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan lashed out against the UDF saying that a panic-struck UDF camp had resorted to provoke officials into coming out with statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State coinciding with the Puttingal tragedy. He said that without the support of the Government, officials would not have dared to come out with controversial statements.
“The UDF is trying for political mileage with the help of the officials. Narendra Modi had not come empty-handed to the State when he came to visit the Puttingal fireworks tragedy. He came down with an expert group of doctors and medicines. Moreover, the PM was firm that his visit should not hamper the relief measures at Puttingal temple”, said Kummanam.
He also added that the world had witnessed what had transpired when the PM came down for a whirlwind trip to Paravur and also met the injured at the Kollam district hospital and later at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital. Kummanan added that the PM’s visit was unprecedented and it was recognized by everyone. It hogged headlines and therefore it snowballed into a major controversy.
“When the BJP tried not to politicize it, the other political parties made a huge issue of the PM’s visit. Instead of standing unitedly with the grief stricken people, unfortunately the remaining political parties resorted to raking up an unwanted controversy.”
He also informed that it was a political game by the UDF that the tragedy should have been made into a national disaster. The only advantage is that it would have enabled the victims’ family to get compensation and also it would have courted national news.
