In a first for Telangana, Panchangam now available in English

Efforts are on to make the book released by the First Citizen of the State. However, an appointment is yet to be confirmed.

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad based Srichakra Peetham with the support of the Telangana Vidhwatsabha has published the Panchangam of Sri Vilambi Nama Samvatsaram (2018-19 Telugu year) in English. This 113-page Panchangam book based on Purva Siddhantam has details of auspicious days in the next 12 months, festival dates, and important and general information about match making etc.

According to Yelamanchi Sridhara Siddhanti, who compiled the book, this English Panchangam was the first such book, based on timings in Hyderabad. He said his guru Divyagnana Siddhanti helped him a lot in the putting together of this book.

This English book will be hugely beneficial to people who understand Telugu but are more comfortable with English as most Panchangkarthas in Hyderabad are published in Telugu alone.

Earlier the Panchangam was written only in Sanskrit. However, majority of Telugu population do not understand Sanskrit and therefore Panchangam made its way into Telugu language and on the eve of Ugadi festival every year, Panchangam in Telugu is available. Moving a step ahead this year, Panchangam has been published in English.

Efforts are on to make the book released by the First Citizen of the State. However, an appointment is yet to be confirmed.
