Kerala High Court seeks details of Pattoor scam

The court posted the case to March 28 for detailed hearing.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has asked the state to explain the details of corruption involved in the Pattoor land deal. The court was considering a plea filed by former chief secretary Bharat Bhushan and builders Rtech Realtors seeking to quash the case. The state pointed to the report of the Auditor- General and submitted that the case was registered after conducting a quick verification by the Vigilance. The builders also sought to quash a plea filed by veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan in the land deal.

The court posted the case to March 28 for detailed hearing. The allegation is that large-scale encroachment had taken place on the land for the construction of flats at Pattoor in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram. Mr Achuthanandan filed a plea seeking an investigation against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the case. Mr Chandy had allegedly helped a private firm in 'encroaching' government land for the construction of flats there.
