Hyderabad: Rs 12 lakh fines from south central railway drive
Hyderabad: Special teams formed to curb illegal hawkers at railway stations under South Central Railway (SCR) has imposed penalties totalling up to Rs 12.38 lakh in 3,400 cases and sent 112 persons for prosecution.
The special drive was taken up from March 1 to 15. At all the railway stations and the teams were formed with Railway Protection Force, Catering department and Ticket Collectors.
The checks were conducted in all the stations under Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Guntakal, Guntur, Vijayawada and Nanded divisions.
Railway officials said that the checks were taken up to inspect the cleanliness being maintained at base kitchens, quality of food items, weights and measures of food items, proper adherence to preparation of food and unauthorized hawkers.
