KOZHIKODE: The KSRTC authorities say that they are waiting for a suitable sponsor for the chairs inside the ladies’ room. There is no mother- friendly room also inside the renovated terminal.
Thousands of women passengers depend on this terminal round the clock everyday. Though there are some seats in front of the restrooms, the KSRTC officials are not yet sure when they would be able to open the room. Currently they are awaiting the help of outsiders to sponsor some chairs. On Wednesday, a travel group had distributed 12 waste bins to be placed at the terminal.
“Hopefully, we will be able to open the restrooms in a week, as a prospective sponsor has shown interest. The VIP lounge is also facing the same difficulty. The rooms come under the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation, not KSRTC,” said KSRTC zonal officer K Muhammed Zafarulla. The zonal officer added that they were also expecting a mother- friendly room, considering the breastfeeding mothers travelling via the bus terminal.
