Stop road work on FTL land in Nirmal: HC to govt

Hyderabad: Finding fault with the state government for violating court orders and laying the road on Full Tank Level (FTL) land adjacent to the water body in Nirmal town, the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the district authorities to fence the entire area of water body, including land in the FTL.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji, directed the government to keep the ongoing road work in abeyance, till further orders.

The bench was dealing with a PIL filed by advocate Anju Kumar Reddy, who submitted that, in spite of the court orders to fence off the FTL land of Kotha Cheruvu/Nayatalab in Nirmal, the government had initiated acquisition of FTL land to lay the road connecting NH61 with Bangalpet in Nirmal town.

Senior counsel T. Surya Karan Reddy furnished the earlier orders of the court and photos of the work in progress. Government counsel Parsa Anantha Nageshwar Rao requested the court not to issue any interim orders, However, the court directed an immediate stop of the work and adjourned the case to March 17.
