Union minister G. Kishan Reddy Writes Letter to Kerala CM

Hyderabad: TS BJP chief and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday wrote to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to express his concern over the inconvenience being faced by devotees owing to the long waiting time at the Sannidhanam in Sabarimala.

He said the death of a young girl while waiting to avail of darshan had caused much anguish and pain.

Kishan Reddy said more than 1 crore pilgrims make the trek to pray to Lord Ayyappa during the Mandala season between November and January, including about 15 lakh from the Telugu states.

He sought the deployment of adequate personnel to ensure that the wait time for devotees is significantly reduced. He also sought basic amenities including access to hygienic sanitation facilities and medical assistance to the devotees.

He said the Centre was ready to support initiatives in this regard and asked Vijayan to permit NGOs that are ready to provide assistance to operate in the temple premises.
