Revanth exhibits democratic spirit, urges speaker to give mike to BRS MLAs

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in a rare exhibition of democratic norms urged Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to give the mike to BRS members in the Assembly whenever they rose from their seats to speak.

While Revanth Reddy was replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks for Governor's address in the House, BRS members created a ruckus whenever the CM
highlighted the failures of the previous regime.

Former ministers K.T.Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao, Vemula Prashanth Reddy and others frequently rose from their seats, demanding that Speaker Kumar allow them to counter the criticism.

While the Speaker told them that he would give them an opportunity after the CM concluded his reply, Revanth Reddy intervened and urged the Speaker to give them the mike.

"Congress government is not like previous dictatorial BRS government. They used to suspend Opposition MLAs if they raised their voice. They even expelled members. But the Congress believes in freedom and democracy. I request the Speaker to give them the mike whenever they ask for it," Revanth Reddy said.

Following this, the Speaker allowed Rama Rao and Harish Rao to speak twice but on both these occasions they chose to criticise Revanth Reddy.

"I thought that they will speak with maturity if they are given a chance. But they utilised it to attack me personally. But I don't mind. I want democracy to flourish in the House where all voices are heard," Revanth Reddy said.
