Suresh Gopi's arrest stayed for 3 weeks
KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has asked the police not to arrest actor-turned BJP Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi in connection with the registration of his car in Puducherry for avoidance luxury tax in the state for the next three weeks. The court, however, directed him to be present before the investigation officials on December 21. The court also directed the magistrate court to consider the anticipatory bail plea filed by the actor after he presents himself before the investigation official.
Suresh Gopi was accused of making fake documents for the registration of his luxury vehicle. The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has launched a probe into the matter following a series of allegations regarding luxury vehicles plying in Kerala being registered in Puducherry to avoid paying tax. The MVD probe found irregularities and the state then has ordered a probe by the Crime Branch.
