Tirupati: CCTV footage helps to trace lost biometric device
Tirupati: In a swift action, Tirupati police recovered a biometric device of a mobile service provider lost by a company representative while travelling from Bairagi Patteda to Leela Mahal Circle in Tirupati on last Saturday. Thanks to the Closed Circuit TV Cameras installed all over Tirupati town and alert police personnel manning the Command Control Centre.
As per recent guidelines of the government all cellular companies collecting the thumb impression of all new customers besides their Aadhaar number to activate the SIM cards and the device is very important to carry out the transactions though its value is only Rs 1,500.
The representative Kumar, who scanned the route he travelled, rushed to the Command Control Centre seeking their help. Understanding the position of Kumar, the Command Control Centre staff jumped into action and started examining the video footage of the area.
As luck had it CCTV footage of Laxmi Puram Circle has revealed that an unknown cloth vendor riding a cycle took the device which was fell on the road and went towards Tiruchanur side. With the help of the clue, Kumar went to the spot and found the vendor along with device within half an hour.
He returned to Command Control Centre along with cyclist and thanked the policemen manning the centre especially G. Sudheer Kumar, the in-charge of the CC TVs. The cyclist handed over the device to Kumar in the presence of command & control centre staff.
