Bengaluru: The Yeshwantpur apartment that was raided by the IT officials on Tuesday, where they recovered and seized unaccounted cash of Rs 2.89 crore, belonged to one Rohan Gowda alias Manjunath Gowda, who is a popular reality show participant in Kannada regional channels. Rohan Gowda is also a partner of a night club at a star hotel in the city, sources claimed.
The investigating wing of IT department had credible information from a reliable source about the huge cash stash at the A-508 flat of the RNS Shanthi Nivas Apartment on Tumkur Road in Yeshwantpura.
The flat had an elderly lady as its occupant, who stayed along with two dogs. The IT officials had tough time conducting the raids as the lady refused to tie up the dogs. The raid was completed only after the Yeshwantpura police intervened.
On Tuesday, the IT sleuths believed the flat belonged to one Manjunath Gowda, but as the assesse showed up, they came to know that though Manjunath Gowda was his real name, he was popularly known as Rohan Gowda.
During the raid the sleuths found that Rs 2.25 crore were of Rs 2000 rupee denominations. According to sources, Rohan Gowda was a participant in the Kannada Big Boss Season 1.
He is also a business partner at a night club, popularly known as The Sugar Factory, at the Le Meridian Hotel on Sankey Road. The I-T department officials suspect the unaccounted money was earned by organising night parties at the hotel and club.
