Marriage buzz set to take-off from November 16

The three-and-half month Moodham/Moudhyami starts in the second week of January and is inauspicious for marriages

VIJAYAWADA: The marriage buzz is in the air after eight months of silence caused by the Coronavirus protocols. A good augury is the availability of auspicious muhurats from the third week of this month and stretching up to the first week of January.

Many families had either postponed or cancelled weddings of their children, although some did go ahead amidst Covid-19 restrictions.

With strict restrictions being lifted, hundreds of marriages are being scheduled although the guest count would have to be restricted to between 50 and 100.

Pundits state that auspicious muhurat began on October 25 with Dasara. They said that the propitious Telugu Karthika month starts on November 16 and auspicious muhurat are on November 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25 and 26 besides which are Margasira month dates of December 1, 6, 8, 9, 17, 18, 20, 24 and 27 and January 1, 2, 4 and 7. The next good dates are in April. They said that the three-and-half month Moodham/Moudhyami starts in the second week of January and is inauspicious for marriages.

It is reported that nearly 40,000 to 50,000 marriages would be performed across the state in the three months.

G. Venkateswarlu said that they had planned to perform the marriage of their son in May year but had indefinitely postponed it. He said that would now perform the marriage in the third week of this month.

Recalling the bitter experience of Kerala about the resurgence of Coronavirus cases for ignoring Covid-19 protocols during Onam festival, officials appealed to the people to strictly follow Covid-19 norms during marriages.
