Secunderabad: Senior citizen dies waiting in queue at Andhra Bank

Lakshminarayana had asked if there was a separate line for elderly

Hyderabad: A 78-year-old man collapsed and died while waiting in a queue at an Andhra Bank branch at West Marredpally in Secunderabad on Tuesday.

K. Lakshminarayana, a retired government employee, collapsed after waiting for a few minutes, due to a heart attack. The person standing next to him said that he was visibly upset seeing the long queue when he arrived and was asking if there was a separate queue for senior citizens.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Lakshminaraya’s daughter K. Sudha said he chose to go to the bank on Tuesday as everybody at home was out for work.

“The queue was very long and it had reached the main road. He was asking if there was a separate queue for senior citizens. After he collapsed, we tried to give him water, but he was not responding,” said an eyewitness.

Lakshminarayana’s kin said they were desperate for fresh money as they had run out of money. “He was healthy and had no preexisting heart condition. Since others were busy, he said he would go to the bank and deposit some currency and exchange some,” said Ms Sudha.
