Hyderabad: Jayadev Galla-led Amara Raja Group has been adjudged one of 500 best employers to work, with by Forbes magazine. While 16 Indian companies figured in the list, the Amara Raja Group was the only conglomerate that made the list from the Telugu states.

Forbes said that it had prepared the list in partnership with market research company Statista after surveying 1.5 lakh full-time and part-time employees from 58 countries working for multinational companies and institutions.

“Survey participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. They were also asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out positively or negatively,” Forbes said about the survey.

While the global list was topped by South Korea’s electronics company Samsung Electronics, billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate Reliance Industries emerged as the best employer among Indian companies. In terms of global ranking, however, Reliance stands at the 52nd place.

While most of India’s best employers were from the banking sector with eight lenders, from both the public and private sectors, only five conglomerates made it to the world’s best employer list. The five best Indian conglomerates according to Forbes were Reliance Industries with a global rank of 52, Larsen & Toubro (127th global rank), Bajaj (215), Amara Raja Group (405) and ITC (453).

The eight lenders who figured in the list are ICICI Bank (65th rank), HDFC Bank (77), SBI (119), Axis Bank (254), Indian Bank (314),  Kotak Mahindra Bank (418), Bank of India (451) and Bank of Baroda (496).
