Subhani didn't escape, but sent to set up IS base: NIA
New Delhi: C module in Kerala and Tamil Nadu it has been revealed that the main accused Subhani Haji Moideen, who was trained and fought for ISIS in Iraq, actually did not escape from their custody but was sent to India deliberately by the terror outfit to set up a base for ISIS in the country.
Moideen, a resident of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, was arrested by NIA earlier this month by NIA. During the initial custodial interrogation Moideen had claimed that he was caught by ISIS when he decided to leave following the death of two of his close friend during fighting in Iraq. He also claimed that he was tortured by ISIS before he finally managed to escape from their custody.
However, subsequent investigations by the probe agency have revealed that Moideen was deliberately trying mislead the NIA sleuths as he did not escape from ISIS custody but in fact was sent back to India by the outfit to establish a base for it here.
It is well know that ISIS has been trying to make inroads in the country but has not succeeded so far though it has managed to radicalise some youth most of whom have joined the organisation in Iraq.
“Since intelligence agencies are closely monitoring activities of ISIS in India and trying to contain its expansion so it seems Moideen has been lying for the real purpose and motive as to why he came back to India. Else why would he continue to remain in touch with his ISIS handler in Iraq through the social media,’’a senior intelligence official said.
Moideen is being seen as an important arrest by the security agencies as he is among few Indian to have actually received armed training by ISIS and then went on to fight for them. NIA along with Central intelligence has now launched a massive hunt to trace other associates of Moideen.
Sources claim that they managed to nab Moideen while he was not only in the process of carrying out major terror attacks on foreign tourists and some judges in Kerala but was trying to rope in more people for his operation. This, sources added, clearly proves that the accused was planning to establish a major ISIS module in the country.
