Chennai: Accusing the Congress and the DMK of enacting a “farce” on the Cauvery issue, the BJP said the Congress has betrayed Tamil Nadu by failing to constitute the Cauvery Management Board when it was at the helm of affairs, and is now fooling the people by announcing to stage an agitation.
Reiterating that the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre would take all efforts to constitute the Cauvery Management Board “within the ambit of law” party state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said once the Cauvery technical team submitted its report on October 17, the Cabinet will meet to take a collective decision on setting up of the Cauvery Management Board.
“Unfortunately, both the Congress and the DMK are enacting a drama on the whole issue and want to derive political mileage,” she said and blamed them of doing little on the farmers’ welfare front on the issue when they were in power.
