Forum for Democracy and Global Peace platform launched in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Forum for Democracy and Global Peace (FDGP), a platform for intellectual engagement, dialogue and exchanges to bring solutions to the global challenges and foster peace, was launched at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies here on Friday.
Former Supreme Court judge Justice B. Sudershan Reddy (retired), Prof. Rama Melkote, Dr. M Gopalakrishna, and former MLC, Kanukula Janardhan Reddy graced the occasion.
In his welcome address, founder-president of the forum, Shyam Mohan Anantula said that the launch of FDGP marked a major milestone in the pursuit of a world where democracy flourishes and peace reigns supreme.
Justice Sudershan Reddy (retired) said, “Democracy and global peace are invaluable pillars of a just society. Your commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration is commendable.”
Some of the main objectives of the forum include advocacy for democracy and global peace; socio-political awareness on democracy and its core principles; sensitizing citizens on the need for global peace; peaceful negotiations; amicable approach; resolving conflicts through bilateral or multilateral discussions, debates and conversations and respecting the spirit of the constitution and electoral norms.
Retired judges, bureaucrats, academicians, intellectuals and activists also attended the event.
