Rank-holders seek extension of Kerala State Public Service Commission rank list

The Kerala High Court has given two verdicts in favour of the rank-holders and directed the authorities concerned to fill the vacancies from the list.

KOCHI: A group of rank-holders of the Kerala State Public Service Commission has urged the state government to extend the period of the rank list scheduled to expire on September 21 to save the chances of nearly 12,900 job-seekers in the list. The rank-holders for the posts of assistant grade, junior assistant and cashiers in various public sector companies, corporations and boards have been waiting for the appointments for the past three years since rank list was published on September 22, 2014.

Deepthi Pradeep, a rank-holder, told this newspaper that the failure of KSEB, KSFE and many other corporations to report the vacancies in time had led to the present situation. “We hope the government will take a positive decision in the matter and save the job prospects of thousands,” she said.

A post-graduate with an Mphil, she said the majority of persons in the rank list were close to reaching the maximum age limit of 35 for PSC appointments and if the present rank list is cancelled they will not get another chance for a government job. The Kerala High Court has given two verdicts in favour of the rank-holders and directed the authorities concerned to fill the vacancies from the list. Meanwhile the State Human Rights Commission has directed the government to extend the validity of PSC rank list expiring on September 30 by another four months due to the failure of the KSEB to report vacancies despite an order by the High Court.
