TTD to modernise 13 roads in temple city

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Wednesday instructed engineering officials to expedite modernisation of 13 key roads, apart from drains and footpaths maintained by the devasthanam. He underlined that ₹31 crore have been released for the purpose.

The TTD chairman asked Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) engineering wing to swiftly prepare estimates for taking up the works.

Reviewing the ongoing development projects at a meeting, he directed officials to prioritise construction of a 150-feet road from Cherlopalli to Vakulamata Temple via Chittoor-Naidupeta national highway.

Karunakar Reddy instructed officials to tackle water logging on the AIR bypass road within a week. He called for collaborative efforts between TTD and MCT to permanently resolve the sewage problems at Govindaraja Swamy Arts College.

He directed officials to construct an underpass at Srinivasan pilgrims complex. He wanted the main gate entrance at Srinivasan repositioned to enhance safety and prevent accidents. He noted that ₹4.5 crore have already been allocated for construction of the new gate.

The TTD chairman suggested removal of the arch at Srinivasa Mandapalu and installation of two large gates for managing traffic flow. He asked officials to install high mast lights throughout the city to ensure improved visibility during nights.

City mayor Dr. R. Sireesha, deputy mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy and MCT commissioner D. Haritha were among those present.
