GHMC awards good performers, takes stock of work done on I-Day

Hyderabad: The Independence Day celebrations were a grand affair at the GHMC office on Tuesday, with Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi hoisting the National Flag, alongside commissioner Ronald Rose and Deputy Mayor Srilatha Reddy, in the presence of staff and councillors.

The senior officials were joined by EV&DM director Prakash Reddy for the guard of honour.

On the day, work appreciation certificates were awarded to staffers across several zones and circles.

Addressing the gathering, the Mayor explained the developmental activities completed in the GHMC region, as well as the projects that are nearing completion.

She said, “Of 48 works undertaken by SRDP to improve public transport movement in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, 35 works have been completed. Of these, 19 flyovers, 7 ROBs and 5 underpasses have been completed. A signal-free transport system ensures pollution-free and timely movement to destinations.”

“Traffic problem will be resolved as the first phase of the steel bridge from Indira Park to VST via RTC Crossroads, which has been undertaken at a cost of Rs 450 crores will be opened. Necessary steps have been taken to complete the remaining 13 tasks,” she said.
